The National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA) Welcomes Newly Elected and Appointed Leaders

On August 17, 2025, the NBBA officially welcomed its newly elected and appointed officers and board members into service. These individuals bring with them years of experience, passion for the sport, and a shared commitment to growing and strengthening our community.

Executive Officers

First Vice President and Tournament Director, Darnell Booker (Indianapolis, IN)

A longtime leader within beep baseball, Darnell has been part of the NBBA since 1985. As founder of the Indy Thunder and director of their Beepball Bonanza for more than two decades, he brings unmatched tournament experience. Now stepping into the role of First Vice President and World Series Tournament Director, Darnell looks forward to continuing his work at the national level, ensuring the World Series continues to run with excellence and vision.

Second Vice President and Public Relations Director, Darren Keepers (Pasadena, CA)

Earning the top vote in this year’s election, Darren has been appointed and confirmed to serve a one-year term as Second Vice President, overseeing Public Relations. Over the past three years, he has helped the NBBA expand its digital presence, introduced cost-saving tools like Zeffy for donations, and led efforts such as the World Series emergency text hotline. His dedication to outreach and innovation ensures that the NBBA’s voice will remain strong and forward-looking.

Secretary, Stephen Guerra (Rochester, MN)

Stephen has faithfully served as NBBA Secretary since 2006, providing consistency, organization, and support to both members and the board. With a long history as a player, team founder, and committee member, Stephen brings institutional knowledge and deep commitment to the role. As he begins his next term, he is focused on improving the processes that keep the NBBA running smoothly and supporting the success of the World Series.

Board of Directors

This year, five seats on the NBBA Board of Directors were filled, welcoming the following returning and new members:

Brandon Chesser (Austin, TX)

Returning for a one-year term after Darren’s appointment to Second Vice President, Brandon has served the league for nearly two decades as both a player and board member. He has been deeply involved in rules, outreach, and player development initiatives and continues to champion recruitment and equipment innovation.

Bree Taylor (Austin, TX)

A dedicated volunteer since 2017 with the Austin Blackhawks, Bree has contributed to World Series operations, All-Star events, and outreach efforts. Known for her organization and follow-through, she is eager to help push the NBBA forward. Her journey into beep baseball began through Delta Gamma, an organization whose national philanthropy supports the blind and visually impaired and has long been a valued partner of the NBBA. What started as service has grown into a lasting passion for the sport and its community.

Christina Smerz (Hickory Hills, IL)

With nearly two decades of involvement as a spotter, team travel coordinator, and active PR and Outreach committee member, Christina brings both advocacy and professional expertise as an Orientation & Mobility Instructor. She is committed to helping create positive change for the membership.

David Sanchez (Yabucoa, Puerto Rico)

David is a Boston Renegades player and founder of Puerto Rico’s first beep baseball team. With ambitions to expand the sport throughout Latin America, he brings leadership and vision for growing the NBBA’s global reach.

David Smith (San Antonio, TX)

Returning for a second term, David credits beep baseball with transforming his confidence and leadership. A visually impaired nurse and wellness advocate, he is dedicated to representing members with passion, energy, and showcasing their athletic talents to a wider audience.
