Ronald Gene Whaley went to be with his Lord suddenly Nov. 1, 2007.
Ron was born in Linton, Indiana on January 16, 1943 to Raleigh Pete and Lena
Frances (Giligan) Whaley.
He graduated from the Indiana School for the Blind and continued his
education at Indiana State University.
He played the trombone in High School and was in Student Council and Journalism.
He was a new member of Crestwood Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon
in March at Shields Blvd. Baptist Church.
He was a member of Handicap for Christ. He loved sharing his faith with any one.
Ron is a member of the Bethany Helping Hands Lions Club, Heartland Council of
the Blind, Oklahoma City Beep Baseball Bombers, Oklahoma Fans for Elvis and
Okies for Elvis Fan clubs.
Ron is retired from the Okla. Library for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped after 21 years of service as a library assistant.
He was recently voted to join the Oklahomans for Special Library Services Board.
He had just started working full time at the Okla. League for the Blind as a
production worker. Ron was on the National Beep Baseball Association Board of
Directors from 1992 – 1996.
He was on the NBBA World Series All Star Offensive team twice and was the
recipient of the prestigious NBBA Jim Quinn Sportsmanship award.
He was an avid video recorder and loved to take videos for others.
Ron is survived by his wife Kathy of the home, his brother Dale and Wife
Marcena of Indianapolis, Indiana, his sister Marilyn Sue Eccles of Bloomfield,
Indiana, father in law Bob Johnston of Lula, OK, numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Pete Whaley and mother Lena
Richardson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 5, 2007, at:
The Crestwood Baptist Church in OKC with a 3 PM graveside at Lula Cemetery in
Lula, OK.
